The map is nowcasted to be valid at the moment specified by the time variable. The input data used to generate the map originates between the time_coverage_start and time_coverage_end global attributes. Analysts at the United States National Ice Center (USNIC) use a variety of geostationary and polar orbiting satellite imagery, derived products, in situ, and other data sources to interactively create the map. The system has produced daily analyses from February 1997 to Dec 2014, and twice daily analyses since.\n\ncdm_data_type = Grid\nVARIABLES (all of which use the dimensions [time][y][x]):\nIMS_Surface_Values (IMS maps of 0: no data, 1:open water, 2:land, 3:sea/lake ice, 4:snow cover for the Northern Hemisphere)\n https://polarwatch.noaa.gov/erddap/info/usnic_ims_4km/index.htmlTable https://nsidc.org/data/G02156 (external link) https://polarwatch.noaa.gov/erddap/rss/usnic_ims_4km.rss https://polarwatch.noaa.gov/erddap/subscriptions/add.html?datasetID=usnic_ims_4km&showErrors=false&email= USNIC usnic_ims_4km

The sea ice concentration CDR is an estimate of sea ice concentration that is produced by combining concentration estimates from two algorithms developed at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC): the NASA Team (NT) algorithm and the Bootstrap (BT) algorithm. This product is designed to provide a consistent time series of sea ice concentrations (the fraction, or percentage, of ocean area covered by sea ice) from November 1978 to the present, which spans the coverage of several passive microwave instruments. The data are gridded on the NSIDC polar stereographic grid with 25 km x 25 km grid cells and are available in Network Common Data Format (NetCDF) file format.
